Starring Buffalo

Starring Buffalo presents a thrilling new take on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the lushly scored retelling of Victor Hugo's epic story of love, acceptance, and what it means to be a hero.

Written by Academy Award-winners Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell), the show features songs from the Disney animated movie, as well as new songs from Menken and Schwartz. The book by Peter Parnell (The West Wing) includes passages from Hugo’s gothic novel, creating a dark and beautiful musical suitable for adults and children alike.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be sung in concert, with a cast featuring world-class Broadway performers and several of Buffalo's top actors delivering an up-close and unforgettable musical experience. More than 100 artists will participate, including a professional orchestra, talented area high school students, and members of the UB dance department. A magical musical theater experience, Hunchback will enthrall audience members with its stirring melodies and stunning voices.

Quaismodo will be played by Ben Fankhauser (Newsies), and Esmeralda by Dan’yelle Williamson (Memphis, Rocky, The Lion King - Tour), with additional Broadway guests to be announced.  The acclaimed Buffalo actors participating include Leah Berst, Charmagne Chi, Arianne Davidow,  Keith Ersing, Matthew Iwanski-Jackson, Dudney Joseph, Ben Michael Moran, Katy Miner, and Raphael Santos.
